Welcome to the new season and the recently revamped website, to which the credit must go to
Alan Phillipson (Ethan's Dad) who, incidentally has agreed to be the 'Parent Representative' for the team. Part of his tasks will include the odd attendance at club meetings which take place on the last Sunday of the month. So, if you would like him (or John and I) to raise any issues you have, please let us know. If anyone else is interested, give us a shout. Also, thanks to Anne (Sam's Mum) and Mandy (Jake's Mum) for volunteering their first aid skills.
At this point, I would also like to say a big welcome to the new guy's and their Parents who I am sure will add to the 'Team spirit' for this season.
It has been a long close season what with the recruiting campaign and Tournaments alike.
Not quite in the same league of the Chinese benefactor's seeking a takeover of the club but, busy all the same. This season I will be looking for somebody to write a match report to be included on this site. I have already approached a certain person but if she declines (she is the only clue Ha!) maybe we could have guest appearances by different people on a weekly basis (Beware!! I will be walking up and down the line looking for a suitable victim).
With the new format of the season (9-a-side and weekly games) we have explained to the lads that this year is going to be tougher than Gandhi's slippers and it will take a consistent amount of concentration and fitness to gain some positive results.
And so, it's on to what was our first match on Sunday against Hawarden who have a good reputation of turning out a quality side, and it proved to be the case. Having said that, we more than matched them for their attitude and skill, and most of all 'Teamwork', and were very unlucky not to take something away from the game in terms of a result. The lads put in some very credible individual efforts and in particular the 'New' guys who have settled in very quickly.
Next up is the 'Old Firm' match against the Colts (High school-Time to be confirmed)
These games have always been a good spectacle and it goes without saying that we will need to be
on top form to take anything away from this one.
